ANCHOR RAY
2017 // 10 weeks // 2 people
Bachelor project in collaboration with Noa
at KTH
THE TASK
To design and construct an anchor made of aluminium for the boat-accessories company NOA.
THE IDEA
The idea was to construct an Ikea-solution anchor where the user assembled the product. By doing this creating a stronger bond between the user and the anchor as well as optimize the storage in stock and transport.
ITERATIVE
PROCESS
RAPID PROTOTYPING
The testing was simple yet effective. Creating a fast iterative process where theories concerning the blades ability to dig down into the seabed were tested.
INSIGHT
CONSERVATIVE
The anchors of the market are heavy, bulky, take a lot of space and are hard to clean. The users, instinctively, see the weight of the anchor as the most important factor for an anchors ability to hold.

THE SHAPE
The geometric shape of the anchor is designed to guide the anchor further down in the seabed the more force that is added.
